If you are not familiar with White Day then you are not alone. White Day is like Valentine’s Day, part two. It is celebrated in several Asian countries, including Japan.
The way it works in Japan that on Valentine’s Day the girl gives the guy chocolates (homemade or store bought) to declare her love. On White Day the guy returns the favor by giving the girl a gift back. It isn’t about the amount of money that is spent, but the expression and declaring of love to the other person.
White Day is a nice tradition to start a relationship with or to start a marriage. It gives you each one more reason to celebrate your love.
My husband and I are romantics at heart. We take every opportunity we can find to celebrate our love and our marriage. We believe it reminds us to value each other. It is easy to forget the little things in any relationship. By celebrating this romantic time on both the 14th of February and the 14th of March; we know that we are not neglecting the little things in our relationship. It gives us time to talk about our hopes, dreams and desires. It is the perfect excuse to ask a family member to watch the kids. Honestly, I cannot think of a couple that doesn’t need more time to spend on connecting with and loving each other.

Planning to renew your vows? If you are confused on what you are allowed to do for your vow renewal then you are not alone. Many couples are renewing their vows with no idea about what is “allowed” for them to do. The short answer – almost anything. A few decades ago there were strict etiquette rules about what was “allowed” and what was not, when renewing your vows. Now, it is whatever you want, honestly there are no etiquette police.
What can you do for your vow renewal?
* Wear a wedding gown or jeans and a tee-shirt - it’s your choice.
* Carry a bouquet.
* Exchange old or new rings.
* You can have attendants (groomsmen, bridesmaids, etc.…) or do it in private with no witnesses.
* You can have a new ceremony. You do not need to use your old ceremony wording for this ceremony.
* You can have a reception or party.
* Hire an event planner.
* Have photographers and Videographer.
* Hire a caterer and servers.
* Order a cake.
* Do an act of unity celebration with a Rose exchange, Handfasting, Sand ceremony and more…
* You can have it at the beach, in a winter cabin, at a ballroom or event center. Anywhere you want it, you can have it!
There are many different reasons that a couple may choose to renew their vows. Restating your love for each other is the most common. For some it is having a ceremony with family and friends; something they could not have when they eloped. Other couples want to “wiping the slate clean and starting over again”. Whatever your reason for choosing to renew your vows, just make sure it is the ceremony you want. It may be as fancy or relaxed as you desire. Have fun and enjoy the process of planning. Enjoy every moment you can with the one you love.

I have been asked often “Where do you recommend we get married?” The question isn’t surprising to me, but rather too vague. Every couple has their own style, only they know what is the right venue or setting for them. Here are a few of the places I have conducted a wedding or vow renewal.
* Sunset Beach State Park in Warrenton, Oregon
* Kelty Estate in Lafayette, Oregon
* Lincoln City beach in Lincoln City, Oregon
* Columbia View Park in St. Helens, Oregon
* Chinook Winds Casino Beachfront in Lincoln City, Oregon
* Gleneden Beach, Oregon on the beachfront
* The Ocean Lodge in Cannon Beach, Oregon
* The Courtyard by Marriott, Portland City Center Hotel in Portland, Oregon
* Maud Williamson State Park about 1 mile from Hopewell, Oregon
* West Salem Park in Salem, Oregon
* Washington Park in Portland, Oregon
* Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach, Oregon
* Ed Grenfell Park about 4.5 miles from McMinnville, Oregon off of Baker Creek Road.
* Chetco River on the river rocks, just outside Brookings, Oregon
Where is the perfect place to get married? The perfect place is the place that speaks to your heart, only you know what is right for you. So it might be in your backyard, a city or county park, the beach or a hotel ballroom. The location should reflect your style and the feel you want your guest to have as they watch you wed your fiancé/fiancée.
I’ve traveled throughout the Willamette Valley and all along the Oregon Coast. The ceremonies are often outside. The natural beauty of the state makes it an excellent place to have an outdoor, destination wedding or vow renewal.
