If you are looking for a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of your child with your family and friends then you found it. A Secular Baby/Child Naming ceremony is a birth celebration. It is the introduction of your child/baby into his/her new family. It is also a wonderful way to give an older child the security of acceptance into the family after an adoption.
The ceremony isn't about giving the child a name at that moment. It is about introducing the baby and announcing the name you gave the baby at the hospital. For an older child it is about announcing the child's nickname or new adoptive surname (last name). This ceremony can also be used to reintroduce a child that has been estranged from one side of his or her family. The ceremony is truly about love and acceptance into a family.
I believe every child should have a family excited to accept him or her in their fold. It is a beautiful sight when an older child is welcomed into the family. The way their eyes light-up as they feel the joy of the moment is amazing. When a baby is introduced to the family it is often the Guardians (Godparents) and Grandparents whose eyes light-up with excitement and happiness. These moments are once in a lifetime. This is the time when you can take pictures and videos which you can treasure for years to come. Make sure you enjoy them and share them before they are gone. Children grow up so fast and before you realize it; their childhood is over.
So why should you do a Naming ceremony? For the Love of a child!
You have made your vows to love, honor and cherish each other for eternity. The rings have been exchanged and all this is left is the Kiss! Your wedding day kiss is important. Everyone wants to see you “seal your vows with a kiss”. I have witnessed hundreds of couples kiss. Some are short little pecks and others are hungry, hungry hippo!™ Let’s face it we have all noticed couples that are all over each other with sloppy wet kisses. This obviously is not the type of kiss you want captured on the SD cards of all your witnesses. To be emailed to your whole entire extended family and all of your friends that couldn’t attend the wedding. Those pictures and videos will be digitally stored on the internet for everyone on the planet to see for all of eternity. Is that the part of your wedding you want everyone talking about. Of course not, at least not negatively.
Now imagine a picture perfect kiss that all your friends and family will be talking about with envy! How would you like to mingle with all your guests at the reception and be told your kiss was awesome! You would hear comments like “what a kiss!” or better yet, “I want to be kissed like that!” I know that with all the stress that comes from planning a wedding; that kissing is not your first worry. It probably is not a worry at all. For most couples, they have practiced it to perfection. But we all remember that one video that went viral a few years ago about the virgin couple that had never kissed. What did they do, they attacked each other like wild hungry animals! I do not want this to be you.
May I give you a little wedding day advice…
The Right Way
The Wrong Way
The day you marry or recommit to your sweetheart is very special. Don't allow one little kiss to over shadow your entire ceremony. Enjoy the moment and have the memories to remind you of the moment. The moment you told your spouse that they will always be the love of your life!
So go kiss your honey and practice that picture perfect wedding day kiss!
This is just a few of the beautiful wedding & vow renewal locations in Oregon. Starting north and working the way down the coast and then into the valley.

Lincoln City's Beach tidepools
Devils Lake State park
Fogarty Creek State Park, Depoe Bay

The romance of the moment you are sharing your heart should be in a location that is equally as special. The ideal vow renewal & wedding venue is always important. The location sets the tone for your entire ceremony. Even if you are eloping, pick a location that has meaning to you or is just amazing and breathtaking.
If you are not familiar with White Day then you are not alone. White Day is like Valentine’s Day, part two. It is celebrated in several Asian countries, including Japan.
The way it works in Japan that on Valentine’s Day the girl gives the guy chocolates (homemade or store bought) to declare her love. On White Day the guy returns the favor by giving the girl a gift back. It isn’t about the amount of money that is spent, but the expression and declaring of love to the other person.
White Day is a nice tradition to start a relationship with or to start a marriage. It gives you each one more reason to celebrate your love.
My husband and I are romantics at heart. We take every opportunity we can find to celebrate our love and our marriage. We believe it reminds us to value each other. It is easy to forget the little things in any relationship. By celebrating this romantic time on both the 14th of February and the 14th of March; we know that we are not neglecting the little things in our relationship. It gives us time to talk about our hopes, dreams and desires. It is the perfect excuse to ask a family member to watch the kids. Honestly, I cannot think of a couple that doesn’t need more time to spend on connecting with and loving each other.
